{"id":1180,"date":"2021-10-07T17:06:28","date_gmt":"2021-10-07T21:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.worcesterfreelibrary.org\/?p=1180"},"modified":"2021-10-07T17:06:31","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T21:06:31","slug":"kids-safe-online-nys-poster-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.worcesterfreelibrary.org\/?p=1180","title":{"rendered":"Kids Safe Online NYS Poster Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attention Teachers &amp; Educators!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The NYS Office of Information Technology Services, Chief&nbsp;Information Security Office (ITS CISO) is conducting a kindergarten through 12th grade computer safety contest in conjunction with the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of the contest is to engage young people in thinking about cyber security through the creation of posters that will encourage their peers to use the Internet safely and securely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"girls on computer\" height=\"120\" src=\"https:\/\/its.ny.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/resize\/photoimages\/gettyimages-1220200745-180x120.jpg\" width=\"180\">The sponsors of the contest believe that young people know best how their friends and classmates are using the Internet and can craft the messages and the images that will resonate with their&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"girl studying with laptop\" src=\"https:\/\/its.ny.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/resize\/photoimages\/kids-174x116.jpg\" width=\"174\" height=\"116\">peers and help them stay safe online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest is designed to be fun and educational.&nbsp; Enter the New York State contest to become eligible for the national contest! Winners will be awarded in New York in early 2020. Winners will be submitted to the national contest for&nbsp;category (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9 -12, and special education).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries may be used in national, regional and state cyber and computer security awareness campaigns. Examples can be found on the Kids Safe Online Webpage at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/its.ny.gov\/keeping-kids-safe\">http:\/\/its.ny.gov\/eiso\/keeping-kids-safe\/children<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage teachers to use this contest as one way to begin addressing cyber security and online safety issues in the classroom.
